Swimwear for women who love the sun… Minus the Burn.
I love the sun. I just prefer to enjoy it from the shade… and with as much UV protection between me and it as possible.
Growing up as a natural born redhead with fair, sensitive skin, sun protection wasn't optional — it was survival.
That meant as a kid being slathered in thick chemical sunscreens that stung my eyes the second I got in the water, climbing out every 80 minutes to reapply (and somehow still missing spots), and that sinking feeling mid-vacation when you realize the burn has already set in.
As I got older and tried as hard as I could to fit in with the early 00’s tan girl aesthetic, my skin always looked more red than brown and left me with my skin peeling and having to coat my skin in aloe vera.
Now, in my late 30s, I can start to see the sun damage and hyperpigmentation that accumulated over all those years, and it's a daily reminder of why I built sun protection into the very DNA of Not Naked Swimwear.
Why UPF Clothing Beats Sunscreen Alone
Sun-protective swimwear with a UPF 50+ rating blocks over 98% of UV rays. This means: no frequent reapplying, no missing a spot, less reef-damaging chemical runoff. As awareness has grown around how chemical sunscreen ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate damage coral reefs and marine ecosystems, it became even more important to me that our brand offered a genuinely better alternative before you even apply.
One that protects your skin and the waters you're swimming in.
Coverage That Doesn't Look Like a Rash Guard from 2003
The problem with most sun-protective swimwear for women is that it leaves us feeling like we raided a 12-year-old's surf camp wardrobe or looking twice your age. The options in the market were functional, sure… but they weren't beautiful.
They weren't designed for women who want full coverage swimwear that's also flattering, fashion-forward, and don't leave you with bizarre or scantily-clad tan lines where the suit ends.
That gap is exactly what Not Naked Swim was built for. You can wear the looks to and from where you’re going and even jump right in… all still fully covered, and protected from the sun.
Covered From Everything That Matters
Every piece we design is built around the idea that you should help you feel covered. From UV rays, from unwanted attention, from the anxiety of "Is my *** showing? Did I reapply?", without sacrificing style.
Our women's UPF swimwear is designed with:
Full coverage silhouettes that protect without the boxy, shapeless look and are also not skintight.
Thoughtful design lines to minimize awkward sun line situations.
Fabrics made from recycled materials, because sun-safe shouldn't mean environmentally harmful.
And it doesn't stop at the suit. Even our packaging is made from recycled ocean-plastics, because a product that makes you feel good should also be good for the planet all up!
For redheads, pale people, and anyone done burning their buns
Whether you have fair skin, a history of sunburns, a family history of skin cancer, or you're just finally done with the sunscreen-in-every-crevice situation, sun protective swimwear is one of the best investments you can make.
And it should actually be something you want to wear.
That's the whole point of Not Naked Swim. Protection that doesn't look like protection.
